Phoenix Community Bike Shop is located in Barcroft Park, along both the 4 Mile Run & W&OD bike trails. The address of the park -- and parking lot -- is

4200 S. Four Mile Run Drive

Mail stuff to us here, or plug it into MapQuest. Directions by bike, car, & bus are below. The shop is housed in a small building next to the tennis and basketball courts in Barcroft Park, on the east side of the large parking garage.

To Get There:

By Bicycle

from DC or Maryland:

  • Get on the Mt. Vernon trail from any of the bridges connecting DC to VA and ride south past the airport.
  • At the South end of the airport, there'll be a little sign that says "<-- 4 Mile Run" and "--> Alexandria". Take the left fork to "4 Mile Run." This will then cut west, under the highway bridges.
  • Head west on this trail for awhile as it runs along the small river. Eventually it will come up and run along S Glebe Road. At a big crazy intersection, S. Glebe Road will meet W. Glebe Road, as well as S. Four Mile Run Drive.
  • Turn left off the path onto W. Glebe Road.
  • Go up the short hill and take the first right on Valley Drive.
  • At the first fork, stay right, continue on this (it becomes Martha Custis Drive). Continue up this until Gunston Road.
  • On your right will be the pedestrian bridge across I-395. Take the bridge across. When you come off the ramp, continue west alongside the building.
  • Cross Quincy and continue on 28th until Randolph. (you are in Shirlington now.)
  • Take a right on Randolph. Go to the "T", cross S. Arlington Mill Drive, and head left on the Bike Path.
  • Stay on the trail across Walter Reed Drive. It will curve left then a sign for "4 Mile Run" trail will send you right, over a very small bridge.
  • Continue along this path a short ways until the first bridge over the creek. Take the path over the bridge and you will be in Barcroft Park.

from Alexandria:

  • Go north on the Mt. Vernon trail until the turn off for 4 Mile Run trail and follow the above directions.

Note: This route is more easily done than said - fear not. Soon the 4 Mile Run Trail will continue under 395 and make the detour up w. glebe unnecessary.

By Car

from DC:

  • Get on I-395 South.
  • Take the Glebe Rd./Shirlington Exit. Exit north onto S. Glebe Rd.
  • Take a left at the first stop light onto 24th.
  • Drive one block, take a left at the stoplight onto Shirlington Rd.
  • Go down the hill and take a right onto 4 Mile Run Drive.
  • Continue west on 4 Mile Run Dr. until you pass the stoplight at the DMV.
  • Just after the stop light, take a left into the park. Immediately after the DMV and Woofs' buildings, there will be a small driveway leading to our parking lot.

from Route 50:

  • Take Route 50 to George Mason Drive.
  • Turn south onto George Mason and continue until you reach South Four Mile Run Drive
  • Turn Left onto s. 4 Mile Run Drive and continue until you see Barcroft Fitness Center on your right. You can park in the main lot, or continue to the tennis & basketball courts and park behind them.

from anywhere else:

  • Check Google Maps or MapQuest.

By Metro / Bus

Transit Options: Metrobus 7C, 10B, 16ABDEFGHJKWY, 22A, 23AC and ART 74

From Pentagon or Ballston Metro Station, options include 22A.

From Pentagon City or Ballston, options include 16W (to the corner of 4 Mile Run Dr. & George Mason, 1/2 block west of the shop)

From Crystal City or Ballston, options include 23 A or C (to the corner of Walter Reed and 4 Mile Run Dr., 1/2 block east of the shop)
